My name is Miguel Subtirelu. I am a fine art photographer based in Germany, with a professional background in high-end print production.

For three years I worked at WhiteWall, one of the leading laboratories for museum- and gallery-grade prints.
My work there covered image optimization, retouching, material selection, and advising artists, photographers and companies on how to achieve the best possible physical result.

That experience shapes everything I do. It gave me a precise understanding of how an image translates from screen to paper, how materials change perception, and what separates a technically correct print from an exceptional one.

Cruentis

Founded in 2025, Cruentis is my independent fine art practice. It is not a studio and not a service. I do not offer commissions or photoshoots.

The project is built around one principle: an image is only complete once it exists as a print.

Artistic Focus

I have been engaged with art since 2018 and have focused on photography since 2021.

Most of my work today centres on dolls and artificial bodies.
A doll can look almost human and still be empty inside. I use that to explore identity, depression and the effort of getting through ordinary days.

My industrial and architectural series remain part of the collection alongside this work.

I shoot on the Hasselblad X2D and on medium format film with the Mamiya RB67. Grain and texture are not effects in my images but part of their structure, and they come through most clearly in large prints.

Print Philosophy

For me, image and print are inseparable.
I consider 80 × 60 cm an ideal size for many spaces, but large formats remain my preference.
They show resolution, texture and material the way I want the work to be experienced.

WhiteWall is the exclusive production partner behind all Cruentis prints.
All prints are produced at the premium photo lab WhiteWall using the best papers and materials.
The collaboration ensures technical excellence, material consistency, and international reach.
My dual role as an artist and as a professional print specialist creates a direct link between artistic intent and production quality.

SEDOLL is my main partner. They manufacture Leizu Zhang and support my artwork with dolls and materials.
SEDOLL creates highly realistic silicone dolls with a strong focus on craftsmanship, and every work that features their dolls is credited individually.

Artistic Collaboration

Cruentis is currently a solo project, but collaboration is an important part of my work.
In October 2025, I participated in an exhibition in London together with artist and close friend James Pietrangelo.
Further collaborations and exhibitions are planned in the coming years.

Direction

Cruentis is designed as a long-term project.

My focus is on producing cohesive bodies of work, developing experimental formats, and presenting them through exhibitions and physical prints.
Multiple future exhibitions are planned beyond 2027, without fixed timelines.

Cruentis may remain a solo practice or expand through collaborations and educational projects.
What remains constant is the commitment to quality, material integrity, and serious artistic intent.
